Privacy Policy

Constelle collects no data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no network code. Everything it does happens on your Mac.

This policy covers the Constelle app for macOS and the website at constelle.app. "We" and "us" mean Saravanakumar Kandasamy, the developer of Constelle.

Your folders and files

Constelle only reads the folders you choose, and macOS asks you to allow each one. It reads folder names, file names, sizes, types and dates to draw your constellation and to show what changed. It never changes, moves, deletes or uploads your files.

Constelle runs in Apple's App Sandbox, which stops it from reading anything you haven't allowed. You can remove a folder at any time in Settings → Folders.

Search and memory

Search uses Spotlight, which is already on your Mac, within the folders you chose. If Remember searches is on, Constelle keeps your recent searches and what you opened from them, so it can rank results better next time.

This history stays on your Mac, inside Constelle's own sandbox folder. It's kept for the number of days you choose, and you can erase it any time in Settings → Search & Memory.

Microphone and speech

Constelle listens only while you hold the search shortcut or press the microphone button. Your words are turned into text by Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio is never stored and never leaves your Mac. macOS asks for your permission the first time, and you can change it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Apple Intelligence

On Macs with Apple Intelligence, Constelle can use Apple's on-device model to understand free-form requests. That runs on your Mac. You can turn it off in Constelle's Settings.

System information

The dashboard shows the time, free storage, running apps, battery, CPU and memory use. Constelle reads these from macOS to display them, and doesn't save or send them anywhere.

Data shared with us or others

• We don't collect, sell or share any personal data.
• Constelle doesn't connect to the internet, so nothing can be sent.
• Images and videos you export with Share My Constellation are saved where you choose. What you do with them is up to you.
• If you email us for support, we use your message only to reply, and we delete it when it's no longer needed.

The Mac App Store

Constelle is distributed by Apple through the Mac App Store. Apple handles downloads and any purchases under its own privacy policy. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated statistics such as install counts and crash reports. These don't identify you.

This website

constelle.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking scripts. Like any web host, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and reliability. We don't use those logs to identify you.

Your choices

Because we don't hold any of your personal data, there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Everything Constelle keeps is on your Mac: erase search memory in Settings, or delete the app to remove everything it stored.

Children

Constelle collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll post the new version on this page with a new date. If a change affects how the app handles your data, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
