Terms of Service
Last updated: 22 October 2026
In short: Constelle is yours to use on your Macs. It only reads the folders you allow and never changes them. It's provided as is, and these terms sit alongside Apple's standard license for apps from the Mac App Store.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to the Constelle app for macOS ("the app") and the website at constelle.app ("the website"), both provided by Saravanakumar Kandasamy ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, or using the website, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. Your license
When you get Constelle from the Mac App Store, your right to use it is granted under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"). These terms add to the Apple EULA; if the two conflict, the Apple EULA wins for anything it covers.
Within that license, you may install and use Constelle on any Mac you own or control, for personal or work use. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, or remove its copyright notices.
3. Your files
Constelle reads the folders you choose to draw your constellation and to search them. It doesn't modify, move, delete or upload your files. Everything it stores, such as your settings and search memory, stays on your Mac. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Your files and anything you create with Constelle, including exported images and videos, belong to you. You're responsible for having the right to share any exports that show folder names or other details.
4. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- use the app to break the law or to access folders or devices you're not authorised to access;
- try to disrupt or overload the website.
5. Ownership
The app, the website, the Constelle name and icon, and their design and code are owned by us and protected by copyright and other laws. These terms don't give you any right to use our name or branding.
Apple, Mac, macOS, Siri, Spotlight, Finder, Apple Intelligence and Mac App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
6. Apple and the Mac App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property.
7. Updates and availability
We may release updates that add, change or remove features. Updates are delivered through the Mac App Store. We may stop offering or supporting the app at any time, though a version you've already installed will keep working on your Mac.
8. No warranty
To the extent the law allows, the app and the website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the app will be error-free or work without interruption. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from your use of the app or the website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app, if any. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
10. Ending these terms
You can stop using Constelle at any time by deleting it. If you seriously break these terms, your right to use the app ends automatically. Sections 5, 8, 9 and 11 continue to apply after that.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you're a consumer, you also keep any protections given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
12. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with a new date. If you keep using the app after a change, the new terms apply.
